Juggling Too Many Balls?

Want to squeeze more projects and diversify your income stream or business? Many bloggers and netrepreneur want to do that. But, how much time does web publishing / blogging take? Do you still have time for another project? Will it interfere each other in a such a way that you fail to take both of them off the ground?

Everyone has the exact 24 hours a day. No one earns or loses one second.

Obviously action management is the key to juggling a few balls at a time, but before that you need to think a few key points through:

  1. How will this new project contribute to your whole repertoire of skills? If you can use this skill repeatedly after the pilot project, certainly there is a higher value in bringing this project into life.
  2. Prioritize. When you have an idea of a project, it is easy to think that the new one is more important because you are more excited about it. But resist yourself. Assess your strategy. Are you in the content production phase? Do you plan to create information-based products such as an e-book? Better get one thing right and be successful with it rather than having two mediocre projects with no way to support you financially.
  3. Don’t forget your significant other and family. After all, that’s why you work so hard. Consider this a note to myself. (Fortunately, she understands me and is very tolerant about it.)

With that said, there are only so many comments you can leave per day. Perhaps you should limit the number and keep the quality high. Clearly your audience will appreciate if you only publish one long post every day instead of three and then none for the rest of the week.

You see, you can’t grow a tree in a day. Web publishing also takes time. It could be that you have done enough for today. If you can relate to this, it is time to look for another project.

Perhaps start another blog. Learn a new skill. Or if you prefer, turn off the computer and seek an offline activity.

Blogging doesn’t mean you have to be in front of the computer for 8 hours straight. But before you start a project, make sure it won’t interfere with your existing activities. The new project may backfire and ruin everything.

Just a few things to think about for the weekend.
