Think Big, Act Small
More than just a blogging lesson, I think the title of this blog post is something you should practice in life.
Think big, act small.
No matter in which stage you are in your business, if you want it to be sustainable, make sure that you have a vision for the next two to five years, at the very least.
Obviously you can’t just reach it overnight. Breaking goals into actionable steps is the only way you can move yourself closer to the goals.
Sounds common sense? Perhaps, but the truth is that’s not common practice.
I am partly guilty for this too.
At the end of today, do yourself a favor by writing down what you’ve done throughout the day. If you don’t know where you time flies, it is an indicator that you either don’t keep the big picture in mind at all times when required (think big).
As the result, everything seems to be important. That’s why you juggle from one thing to another constantly. The fact that we have Twitter, Instant Messenger, Skype and email only makes things worse.
When you don’t know what to do at any point in your day, it is because you don’t plan enough for it. Acting small requires a thoughtful plan.
With thousands of things trying to grab your attention, it is like choosing which path to take. Imagine having not only a fork, but thousands of them. Unless you know exactly which way to go, you are more likely to get lost.
Now let me tell you a secret. You don’t have to be productive for 10-14 hours a day. Personally I think no one is able to achieve total productivity for that long period of time.
On the other hand, if you are able to focus on your most important goal 2-3 hours per day, you will accomplish big things in life. And at the end of the day, I bet you will feel accomplished about what you have done that day with the short burst of productivity.
Pick what you do wisely.
(This post has nothing to do with the title of a book.)
